Allice in leggy land!

Alice millipede 2

This is Allice, one of our giant African millipedes. Many people think that Allice is a centipede when they first meet her. It's an easy mistake to make, but centipedes have less legs and are active and aggressive carnivores, our millipedes are mostly vegetarian, scavenging on any plant detritus they find. Allice is particularly fond of banana.

Millipedes are born with around six legs. As they grow they get bigger and longer, adding another segment and another 2 pairs of legs. We estimate that Allice has around 250 legs, but I've never sat and counted because I have a life. Millipedes have very poor eyesight so rely on their wiggly antenna on their head to smell and feel their way around the rain forests.
